Special Tribute
In celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
2006, Oriental Culture Association is honored to receive Special Tribute
from State of Michigan.
"As the members, delegates, and friends gather at various events throughout the month to discuss the importance of advocating issues of justice and equity, continue to break down barriers of discrimination and welcoming the opportunity to honor the Asian Pacific American citizens for their leadership and determination, we commend them and than them for all that the Asian-American community has meant in helping to define the character of our beloved Great Lake State."
First place Community Based Performance
The Farmington Area Founders Festival is a community celebration where local
businesses, community organizations and artisans promote their goods,
services, and efforts to festival attendees.
Members of Oriental Culture Association joined the parade of Fonder's Festival, and received "First place Community Based Performance" award in 2004.
First Price in the Category of Performing Art
On Thursday June 10th, 2004, The Community Media Network hosted the 18th
Annual Access Ability Awards at Royal Oak’s own Baldwin Theater. OCA's work
“Splendid East 2003” of Council of Asian Pacific Americans receives the
first price in the category of "Performing Art Award" this year.
Producers in the 11-city consortium submit their programs and compete in one
of three divisions, Public, Educational, or Municipal.
Governor’s New Year Greeting to OCA
2004 Governor and state official’s New Year greeting to Michigan Chinese
through OCA.
"Thursday, January 22, 2004, marks the celebration of the Chinese New Year
for the approximately 30,000 Chinese families that live in Michigan. This
will be the Year of the Monkey, which traditionally Represents Justice and
Wisdom."
Best Community Impact
On June 19th 2003 Community Media Network Host
Charlie Langton handed May Wang, represented of OCA the award "Best
Community Impact" for providing NTDTV Chinese news program.
This award is selected by staffs and producers of CMN to recognized the
OCA's effort to serve community.
