Broadcasting

OCA has teamed with Detroit PBS to broadcast the premiere Chinese celebration of the 2006 Christmas season, a one-hour special highlight from the 2006 NTDTV’s Holiday Wonders at the Beacon Theatre in New York City from Dec 19 through Dec 24, 2006. This Holiday Wonders was a tremendous success at the Beacon Theatre and over 30,000 live audiences enjoyed this cross-cultural celebration of the holiday season.

This special one-hour program is to be broadcast on the Chinese New Year’s day on February 18, 2007, from 5:30 – 6:30PM on Detroit PBS. Nearly 4 million people in southeast Michigan will be able to watch this great presentation on television.

Additionally we are working with local television station WADL (channel 38) to broadcast the new 2007 NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular show from NTDTV’s live performance at the Radio City Music Hall from Feb 14 - 17, 2007. The details are in still works and we are seeking sponsorship to help offset the cost of broadcast.

Broadcasting Impact
Although Michigan was not one of the 2006 Chinese New Year Global Gala hosting cities, the highlights of the 2006 Gala was broadcast on Detroit Public TV (PBS Channel 56) on April 30, 2006. Michigan audiences also responded with the same enthusiasm and acceptance.

Governor Granholm and some state representatives and senators sent a special tribute exclusively to the 2006 Gala broadcast on Detroit PBS. The tribute appreciated and recognized the contributions by NTDTV and its grass-root volunteers by wishing them continued success in bringing truth, harmony and tolerance to the world society.

Mrs. Kathleen Straus, President of Michigan State Board of Education after viewing NTDTV’s Chinese New Year Gala DVD, considered this Gala program a great educational outreach effort for Michigan schools. She commented, “The information I see on the Gala sounds wonderful, very enjoyable, as well as educational, so that would be a very good tool for us. The Gala would be very helpful, I think, in helping us to teach about the culture in China. The tremendous history and various art forms that come from there (Gala), and it is on PBS, that would be very useful as well. Students can watch the tapes (DVDs), if they miss the broadcast. It could be a tool for use in schools.”
